Armored Vehicle Launched Bridge

Assault bridging system

The Armored Vehicle-Launched Bridge (AVLB) assault bridging system provides armed forces with enhanced mobility and maneuverability on the battlefield, enabling rapid and efficient gap crossing.

Featuring multiple STANAG protection levels, the AVLB offers an optimal solution for various combat scenarios. The system can be adapted to customer needs and fleet.

The AVLB comprises three sections: a combat-proven Merkava Mark 4 hull, a 20m-long MLC-70 scissors-type bridge and a launcher mechanism with bridge rest.
Weighing 60 tons, the system's loading capacity and bridge weight can be adjusted to meet customer needs.
The AVLB is operated by only two crew members. The system features two operational panels and smart displays for the commander and driver, enabling either one to launch the bridge.

The control system displays the status of the automatic scissoring sequence, which can launch the 20m-long bridge in less than 5 minutes. The system's
advanced protection level enables the crew to launch the bridge under closed hatch to reduce exposure.
Equipped with a 1500 horsepower engine and automatic transmission, the AVLB can reach a maximum speed of 45 kmh (28 mph). The assault bridging system can climb
a 60% gradient, a 0.65m vertical obstacle, negotiate 30% side slope, and cross a 2.3m trench. The launcher mechanism tongue is fully compatible with the U.S. - made 60ft. AVLB bridge.
