500 lb multi-purpose rigid GP bomb
The MPR 500 is a combat-proven 500 lb (230 kg) multi-purpose rigid penetration and surface attack bomb, part of a family of next-generation general purpose (GP) bombs with a reliability of more than 95%. The MPR 500 delivers the effective performance of the powerful MK 84 GP bomb with the dimensions of the MK 82.
Improved penetration and attack capabilities
The MPR 500 is capable of penetrating four reinforced concrete walls or floors 200mm thick each, or 1m of reinforced concrete. No “J” effect enables a straight penetration path to the target. MPR 500 also includes 26,000 controlled fragments to deliver concentrated blast and controlled fragmentation effects, for high kill probability with low collateral damage against a wide range of targets in open terrain. MPR 500 is fully compatible with the MK 82 guidance systems and standard fuzes, and is approved by Boeing as compatible with the Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) guidance kit.
