Precision Guidance Kit for 155mm gun artillery

Elbit Systems’ Silver Bullet add-on 2D precision guidance kit for 155mm ammunition improves the accuracy of conventional artillery to meet the high-precision requirements of the modern battlefield. Based on advanced Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technologies, the Silver Bullet course correction fuze increases combat effectiveness of existing artillery with highly accurate “first-shot hit” capability, at any range.

Silver Bullet enhances the capability of existing artillery, transforming 155mm projectiles into GPS-precision guided munitions by replacing standard front-end fuzes with a course correction fuze. Multi-function fuze capability offers Point Detonation (PD), Point Detonation Delay (PDD) with all-in-one guidance and fuzing.

Silver Bullet features high correction capability to compensate for trajectory inaccuracy and enables firing with reduced bracketing requirements. Ammunition fitted with the Silver Bullet is guided continually throughout the trajectory, delivering enhanced precision and maneuverability. First shot precision enables short time from target acquisition to target hit, for effective engagement of time-sensitive targets.

The GNSS-guided ammunition can accurately strike in mountainous areas and is capable of operating in a GNSS degraded environment. A high-precision Circular Error Probability (CEP) of 20m allows for increased fire power density and lethality, enables engaging smaller, high-quality targets, operation in urban areas while limiting collateral damage, and close-range fire support to friendly forces.

Silver Bullet enhances battery target engagement capacity at a given time, significantly reducing mission’s costs. Requires 50%-80% fewer shells per target engagement, significantly reducing costs across the supply chain enabling the battery to operate significantly longer before ammunition re-supply.

Silver Bullet is designed to meet ammunition flow in automatic gun loaders and ammunition gun storage compartments. Mission loading is provided by an easy to operate setting device connected to the gun’s command and control computer.
