The M208 HEI-T is a 30x173mm medium caliber high-explosive incendiary cartridge with tracer, developed by Elbit Systems Land. It delivers improved penetration and lethality against light armored vehicles, fortified structures, and infantry across ground and shipboard applications. The cartridge is fully compliant with NATO STANAG 4624 and compatible with the Bushmaster II MK44 and Mauser MK30 weapon systems.

Operational capabilities

A single 30mm gun position often faces several threat types in the same engagement. The M208 HEI-T is a multi-purpose operational cartridge built to handle that spread. It combines high-explosive, incendiary, and penetration performance in one round, effective against light armored vehicles, structures, and dismounted infantry, including in urban warfare. Its incendiary component adds effect beyond fragmentation alone, and its performance holds across both ground platforms and shipboard mounts.

Accuracy and range

The M208 HEI-T is highly accurate up to 3,000 meters, with a maximum range of 5,000 meters. It leaves the barrel at a muzzle velocity of 1,100 m/sec and delivers a typical accuracy of 0.5 x 0.5 mils, with a 5-second tracer for observation and correction.

Weapon system compatibility

The M208 HEI-T 30x173mm is compatible with the Bushmaster II MK44, the Mauser MK30, and other equivalent 30mm weapon systems. This makes it a drop-in operational round for NATO-standard 30x173mm platforms already fielded across allied ground and naval forces.

Compliance and safety

The M208 is fully compliant with NATO STANAG 4624. The projectile uses a PDD fuze with two independent safety systems, and the cartridge is qualified across a firing temperature range of -46°C to +63°C and storage range of -54°C to +71°C. Hazard classification is 1.2E, UN0321.
