Autonomous 120mm/81mm recoiling mortar system
Designed as a battle-proven 120mm recoiling mortar system, CARDOM offers remarkable versatility by being compatible with various tracked and wheeled armored platforms. Its innovative design allows for rapid deployment, enabling units to achieve "first round on target" within an impressive 30-60 seconds and sustain a massive fire rate of up to 16 rounds per minute.
The system's advanced technological features set it apart from traditional mortar systems. Embedded with a sophisticated Fire Control System (FCS), CARDOM integrates an Inertial Navigation System (INS), electrical drives for automatic laying, and an onboard ballistic computer. This sophisticated combination ensures maximum accuracy and provides military units with a direct digital link to modern target acquisition sensors, including unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and ground-based radars.
The CARDOM is a NATO qualified, battle proven mortar system, in active service in modern armies such as the US Army within the Stryker 8×8 brigades, the Israel Defense Forces and other leading armies.
Unique design
The CARDOM’s unique design enables ground operation of its 120 mm barrel and accommodation of an 81 mm barrel to reduce training costs and decrease collateral damage (when used in urban area and firing on sensitive targets). The CARDOM’s advanced embedded Fire Control System (FCS) combines an Inertial Navigation System (INS), electrical rives for automatic laying, and an onboard ballistic computer. It is easily integrated with an in-service Battle Management System (BMS). Together, these provide a direct digital link to modern forward observer (FO) target acquisition sensors including UAS, Radars and other detection systems.
Transportability without compromising
With its light weight and low silhouette, the CARDOM enables the vehicle to maintain transportability without compromising the enhanced and additional armor needed for up-to-date airborne expeditionary missions. The CARDOM includes a modern and battle-proven shoot-and-scoot capability allowing “first round on target” within 30-60 seconds and massive firepower with a rate of fire of up to 16 rounds per minute. Significant “fire for effect” missions can be completed by a single mortar.
Sensor to shooter to target
Elbit Systems offers a complete “sensor to shooter to target” solution tailored to meet any customer requirements for a complete solution for all levels – battery, battalion or brigade. It includes complete vehicle adaptation and integration, ammunition, scalable Command & Control capabilities and varied target acquisition platforms (ground and aerial) all digitally connected by communication systems. These components are all connected via digital command, control and communication systems.
Easy and safe to operate, the CARDOM features scoot-and-shoot allowing “first round on target” within 30-60 seconds and massive firepower with a rate of fire of up to 16 rounds per minute. The system is easily integrated with in-service battle management systems.
