Elbit Systems Sweden AB announced today its intention to establish Elbit Systems’ first European production and maintenance center for Laser Warning Systems (LWS), as part of the Company’s continued commitment to strengthening Sweden's and Europe’s defense industrial base and supporting the national security needs of European and NATO member states.
The center, which is expected to become operational in 2027, will support local integration, assembly, maintenance, and lifecycle support activities for Laser Warning Systems in Europe.
The initiative reflects Elbit Systems’ long-term strategy to expand its industrial presence and strengthen local industrial and technological capabilities across Europe. The establishment of local production and maintenance capabilities is expected to contribute to enhanced availability, shorter delivery timelines, and strengthened support for European customers.
The systems to be produced represent the next generation of Elbit Systems’ passive Laser Warning Systems, designed to instantly detect and localize laser threats, and to provide users with maximum time and operational flexibility to implement protective measures. The new generation has been developed for seamless integration with existing command-and-control systems and features a decentralized architecture that reduces the number of components, minimizes platform modifications, and delivers a more robust solution. Elbit Systems’ Laser Warning Systems are operationally deployed by armed forces worldwide and serve as a key component in advanced self-protection suites for military platforms.
Established in 2020, Elbit Systems Sweden has become a growing part of Elbit Systems’ European operations and today employs more than 100 personnel across the country. The company serves as a regional hub for Elbit Systems’ activities in Northern Europe and works in close cooperation with the Swedish defense ecosystem.
In recent years, Elbit Systems Sweden has supported the Swedish Armed Forces in advanced defense and digitalization programs, strengthening the Company’s position as a long-term industrial and technological partner in the region.
The establishment of the center marks an important milestone in the continued growth of Elbit Systems Sweden and reinforces the Company’s commitment to supporting Sweden's and Europe's long-term defense preparedness through local industrial capability, technology transfer, and strategic cooperation with European defense partners.
Tobias Wennberg, CEO of Elbit Systems Sweden: "This initiative represents an important step for us and reflects our commitment to strengthening our capabilities to develop, deliver and produce locally. It also aligns well with our core technologies and enables us to expand our scope going forward. Through the establishment of this center and the transfer of advanced technologies, we aim to support Swedish, European and NATO customers with reliable, long-term and locally supported self-protection solutions with secure and sovereign supply chains."
