Giving Firepower a New PULS™

Once seen as rigid and outdated, artillery is now evolving into one of the most adaptable tools on the battlefield. Meet the rocket launcher driving that change.

For decades, armies around the world have been locked into costly dependencies on rigid artillery systems – platforms with limited flexibility in ammunition types or operational adaptability. But a quiet transformation is underway. Elbit Systems is leading a shift with a new generation of rocket launchers that breaks traditional monopolies by integrating third-party munitions – reshaping not only how militaries choose their weapons, but how they control them.

At the center of this shift is the PULS™ (Precise Universal Launching System). Far from being just another rocket launcher, PULS™ is built for versatility. It can fire a wide array of munitions – from conventional unguided rockets for training, to advanced precision-guided rounds for high-stakes tactical and strategic operations.

The PULS' ability to support firing short-range training rockets enables realistic simulations of guided munition scenarios while keeping costs low and operational readiness high.

Precision at Every Range

Elbit’s precision-guided munitions are designed for diverse mission profiles, from short-range support, via mid-range and up to long-distance strikes.

The ACCULAR system delivers pinpoint accuracy at 35 kilometers, while EXTRA rockets push that range to 150 kilometers. For long-range missions, the Predator Hawk reaches targets up to 300 kilometers away. Each munition can be equipped with different warheads (such as penetration or fragmentation warheads) – enabling mission flexibility and maximum effect against diverse targets.

But range is only part of the story. The real edge lies in precision and survivability in contested environments. Elbit’s munitions retain accuracy even under GPS challenged environments – an increasingly vital capability as adversaries grow more sophisticated in disrupting navigation systems.

This level of reliability has made Elbit a preferred supplier not only in Israel, but also across key NATO countries – particularly as the war in Ukraine intensifies demand for proven, adaptable systems.

European Shifts and Flexible Firepower

As European defense priorities shift toward artillery modernization, Elbit Systems is gaining ground. Recent wins reflect growing trust in its versatile solutions.

To address the limitations of legacy rocket launchers – which often lock customers into proprietary munitions – Elbit is co-developing the EuroPULS platform with German Defence-Industry partners. Unlike traditional systems, EuroPULS is designed to become Europe’s first truly open launcher, integrating third-party rocket munitions, focusing mainly on European-made rockets. This adaptability gives defense forces greater autonomy and helps break the vendor lock-in cycle long associated with the defense industry.

Elbit’s launchers are also engineered for rapid adaptation. Once limited to tracked platforms, they can now be mounted on a wide range of truck chassis based on customer needs. This design agility supports diverse mission profiles without compromising performance.

These strategic collaborators underscore the appeal of flexible munition integration – and the strategic value of European-based manufacturing that meets strict EU standards. As regional tensions grow and defense budgets rise, Elbit’s interoperable systems are becoming key players in Europe’s evolving military landscape.

From Legacy to Leadership

Elbit’s leadership in rocket systems is built on decades of experience – beginning with legacy platforms developed by Israel Military Industries (IMI). The PULS platform is a next-generation evolution, which earned global recognition for its export success. Today, PULS™ is replacing aging systems like the MLRS M270, which are expensive to maintain and fast becoming obsolete.

With geopolitical tensions reigniting an arms race across Europe, Elbit Systems is positioned at the forefront – delivering solutions that combine precision, flexibility, and operational reliability. As governments ramp up investment in advanced artillery, anticipating potential conflict within the next 3–5 years, Elbit’s adaptable launchers and precision-guided munitions are becoming essential tools in modern military planning.
